Huzaifah Islam-Khan is Burmese-Rohingya and holds a BA and MA in Philosophy. His work focuses on Islamic intellectual history, Islamic philosophy, theology, philosophy of religion, and modern Islamic thought. His research has examined al-Ghazālī’s understanding of philosophy, the relationship between falsafa and the broader philosophical traditions of Islam, and the historical development of Salafism. He also writes about Burma, history, religion, culture, identity, and belonging, particularly as they relate to Burmese Muslims and the Rohingya experience.

He teaches philosophy and literature at the City University of New York and is the co-founder and President of the Islamic Institute of Burma, non-profit organization dedicated to disseminating and fostering Islamic scholarship in the Burmese language through education and community engagement.
